Aim

 

To understand the basic principles of driver wellbeing and the factors that influence a driver’s fitness for work and safety on the road.

 

Overview

 

This vital module introduces drivers to the key elements of maintaining good physical and mental health. Through interactive discussion, experience sharing, and real-world examples, drivers will explore the impact of diet, fatigue, sleep, stress, and mindset on their overall wellbeing and driving performance. Practical strategies for recognising risks and improving health are a key focus throughout.

 

Key Learning Outcomes

 

Recognise whether they are fit to drive, including meeting basic legal health requirements such as eyesight standards.

Understand the importance of a balanced diet and its role in sustaining energy and concentration levels.

Identify signs of fatigue and learn strategies to manage time and rest effectively.

Recognise the symptoms and dangers of Sleep Apnoea and know when to seek help.

Understand stress management techniques and how to maintain mental resilience.

Explain the concept of ‘being in control’ and how it affects both personal wellbeing and professional performance.

Training Methods

 

Training is delivered through trainer-led presentations, group discussions, shared experiences, practical examples, and the use of short trigger videos to reinforce learning points and encourage participation.

 

End-of-Module Assessment

 

Each section concludes with a short group quiz to confirm delegates’ understanding and promote reflective discussion.
